On June 4, 1976, David Allen Goff and Jocelynn Brown made a commitment to one another and to God. The nearly 20-year-old girl and 23-year-old guy may not have known what they were getting themselves into, but they knew whose hand they were placing their lives in.
As they took each other’s hand and pledged their love to one another, they joined their hands in God’s, trusting that he would lead and carry them through the good times and bad, sickness and health...
And so, tomorrow, we celebrate their 40th anniversary!
They are currently on a cruise to Alaska and may not even see this post until they return. My sisters and are ecstatic that they are able to celebrate their marriage and take a vacation like they have never done before.
However, more than the celebration of an anniversary cruise, we rejoice more over the fact that they have remained faithful to God and to one another—even when, at times, the only thing they could agree on was that God is God.
By placing their marriage in God’s hands, not just on their wedding day, but in practice and in prayer throughout the years, we look forward to celebrating another 40 years with them in the future.
