his humilityHe who knew no sin became sin so that we might become the righteousness of God (1 Cor. 5:21).
God became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14), becoming the perfect sacrifice (Heb. 10:10-14) that we might be forgiven of our sins, and have a perfect mediator between God and us (1 Tim. 2:5).
Jesus did not consider equality with God something to be valued more than His purpose as the perfect sacrifice (Phil. 2:3-8). Do we have a better example of humility?
We cannot reject our equality with God, as Jesus did, because it was never ours to claim. How do we show humility?

Sometimes the best way to understand a word is to look at its opposite. The opposite of humility is pride.
Pride focuses on self.
Humility turns the focus to God.
The Proverbs are full of references to the blessings that God pours out on the humble and the downfall of the proud.
Numbers 12:3 practically jumped off the page at me in a recent reading, “(Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)” I’m sure Moses’ humility was part of why God chose him to lead His people out of Egypt.
A denial of self for God’s glory and for His purposes is a clear manifestation of humility. It is not a self-loathing, but a valuing of God and others above self.
The greatest command to Love God and Love Others, as we love ourselves, summarizes humility perfectly.
Humility is a heart matter and Christ was the best example of a pure heart that did ALL He did to the Father’s glory.
