I have been feeling a pressure to perform lately: to do my best and to please God and others with my performance. We're called to do our best and to do it all to God's glory, but not to the point that anxiety, worry, or fear outweighs a sense of peace, love, and grace.
It's interesting that I would reflect on a works-based struggle on Labor Day. I'll leave you to reflect on these verses from Matthew 6 and ask yourself: What am I laboring on or worrying about?
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life... See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
