This past week has been a bit stressful and overwhelming. Not only am I working to write and publish the Bible study materials, maintain the blog, and get the word out about Iron Rose Sister Ministries, but I am also doing all of the official paperwork to get us registered as a non-profit and keep us in good standing on the federal, state, and local level, with sales tax etc.
If your head is already swimming with that list, just say a little prayer for all those steps in the process of the “business” side of IRSM.
So, yesterday, I drove to a nearby town that has a Department of Revenue office to file for our sales tax license. As with most governmental locations and official offices, I expected to spend all morning waiting in line, maybe get someone that could assist me, and leave maybe not having brought all I needed with me to get it all squared away.
I was so glad to be wrong. I walked right in and a very helpful gentleman affirmed that I had filled out the form correctly. He filed the paperwork and gave us our temporary sales tax license (which means we can start selling the book as soon as it comes in next week!). I was also able to ask him a few questions about the confusing Colorado state and local tax laws, which he patiently explained and told me about the free class he offers once a month. I thanked him profusely and left feeling relieved to have that checked off the list.
I also thanked God profusely for putting a helpful person in my path when my week had been filled with less-than-helpful people that were increasing my frustration level. Today, as I have been tempted to fall back to the overwhelmed or frustrated feelings, I remember how smoothly at least one thing went this past week and I am grateful.
In the midst of your hassled or stressful week, what’s a bright spot for which you can give God the thanks?
