Jesus’ hands were calloused and wrinkled. The son of a carpenter would have had more than his share of splinters at an early age, which toughened his skin, as he grew older. But the callouses do not compare with the scars...
I had never thought about falling in love with Jesus’ hands, but in light of the blog theme this month (In the Hands of the Divine Gardener) and the topic for the bilingual retreat in Abilene this weekend (Falling in Love with Jesus), my thoughts turned to the things that I have come to love about Jesus’ hands.
How about you? What do you love about Jesus’ hands?
• Callouses that show he is not afraid to work
• Gentleness that reaches his hand out to the hurting
• Mercy that touches the leper
• Strength that lifts the broken
• Pierced in sacrifice
• Scarred by love
What a blessing to take hold of Jesus’ nail-scarred hands and falling in love with him all over again!
