The first time God revealed Himself to Moses was through the burning bush (Ex. 3).
13 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” 15 God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.
We may not get the privilege of a burning bush by which we can recognize God, but He makes His presence known as the Great I AM, even today.
Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself to us that we might know Him. And through His Son, God directly declares who “I AM” is and His vital importance in our lives today.
• “I am the bread of life” (John 6:35).
• “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12).
• “I am the gate for the sheep” (John 10:7).
• “I am the good shepherd” (John 10:14).
• “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25).
• “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
• “I am the true vine” (John 15:1).
The Great I AM is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8). I AM is present at all times, which is part of the beauty of His greatest name!
Which aspect of the Great I AM do you long to know more intimately?
Invite the Great I AM to be:
