Our heights range from 5’2” to 5’10”. Our hair colors are still distinct, but some of us are now blessed with more God highlights than before (how I refer to gray hair). We live in four different states and our relationships are each unique. They are my sisters.
This month, because of the location of various events, I will be able to spend at least two days with each of my sisters. And I couldn’t be more thrilled! I delight in the time I spend with my sisters.
We may not always agree on things. We come at life with different perspectives and insights. We have a plethora of shared experiences growing up, but the older we get, the fewer experiences we get to share together.
And so, when the opportunity presents itself to spend time together, I delight!
I delight in our friendship that has matured with time.
I delight in the shared experiences, the funny stories, the crazy memories, and the new memories being formed.
I delight in the fact that I have the privilege and honor of calling each of them my sisters.
Now before you get jealous of me, and my sisters, please know that our conversations are not always pleasant. The experiences we share are not always delightful. And some of the stories we laugh at now, were no laughing matter at the time.
Yet through the ups and downs, we know that we will continue to honor our sisterhood. And even when the other makes decisions we don’t agree with, we delight in sharing life with her.
These sister relationships are part of what IRSM strives to facilitate through the events, seminars, conferences, retreats, and ladies’ days we are able to be a part of. When I gather with other Christians and meet women who are seeking to be a part of God’s family, I share a similar delight to how I feel when I get with my sisters.
You may have a Christian sister who is annoying you, frustrating you, or with whom you don’t agree. I encourage you to delight in her today. Delight in the relationship you share in the Lord. Seek new ways to connect and rebuild the relationship.
